About Little Willow Homestead
Little Willow Homestead was established in 2018. My husband James and I both grew up in a small farming community and we wanted our newly adopted baby girl to grow up out in the country learning where her food comes from.
We began raising chickens right away. I had raised chickens prior to moving out here, but I soon fell in love with Black Copper Marans. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I really wanted to breed these beautiful birds, not just for their beautiful dark chocolate colored eggs, but for the temperament of the birds themselves. And thus, Little Willow Homestead was born!
Since then, we have added true Ameraucanas and Olive Eggers to our farm, allowing us to expand our offerings while maintaining the same commitment to quality.
Commitment to Quality
Here at Little Willow Homestead we strive to offer the best no matter what product it is. We do not use pesticides on our property and treat any issues naturally and holistically. We are not a hatchery but a small family farm with a focus on quality, not quantity. We have a very small flock of just a few different breeds of chickens, allowing us to specialize in egg colors from happy, healthy birds.
Commitment to Health
We believe strongly in creating a good immune system from the beginning so that our birds have the best start at life. We also treat our birds proactively with things like diatomaceous earth, garlic, and chick boost to help avoid health issues. Biosecurity has been a major issue for many hatcheries and farms across the nation. At Little Willow, we take every biosecurity measure possible to protect our flock (and yours) from avian flu and other diseases.
